Height Profile on Walks

We've just upgraded all our walks (except those which are more or less on the flat like Around Buttermere) to include a walk height profile to show you the vertical shape of the walk. Our walk Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike is a good example of it in action.

Walk height profile
path profile
height in metres, distance in kilometres - note that gradients are usually exagerated

Here you can see the initial flat section as you cross the plain at the end of Buttermere and also the dip in the walk as you cross from Haystacks to Fleetwith Pike.

We hope you will find profiles helpful when picking which of our walks to try but do bear in mind that the vertical axis of our profile is normally magnified compared to the horizontal axis so gradients tend to be exaggerated, especially on walks which are relatively flat.
