Over on the Relative Hills of Britain mailing list there's a rather tragic tale about a dog missing and assumed dead. Without going into too much detail essentially a couple and their dog were being evacuated by helicopter from near Meall Dearg after becoming crag fast. When the helicopter came in it blew the dog off the ledge he was on and he fell a long way and is assumed dead (the helicopter was low on fuel so they couldn't hang around to look for him).
The moral, and the reason for posting here, is that the lesson we learned from this sorry tale and so wanted to pass on is that if you do ever need helicopter assistance be aware that everything needs holding down, including your dogs.
