Up for a few days and this is our first day warm up.... Even on this not too challenging terrain the low price light boot I bought from Mountain Warehouse failed me dreadfully!! Straight in to Whitehaven Millets after the walk to buy something suitable!

Bits of the route there is no real path and there seem to have been some rain so the bogs were bogs. Climbing Whoap especially, we did not find much evidence of paths. The river crossings going down the valley were solid opportunities to get wet feet.

Grike

Crag Fell

Lank Rigg

Blakeley Raise/Kinniside Stone circle - AJW notes its omission from the OS Map and the tale of its recovery...

What brand?

I've had a recent bad experience with Hi-Tec (who I used to regard as the best of the cheap end, but no longer).

Own Brand 'ISO DRY' Very thin sole, zero waterproofing. Not worth £30 I did much better with the ALDI boot. Hi Tek D of E approved was the best Millets had (that would fit my feet...) A lot happier for this trip!
