Descent:636m or 2087ft
Start OSGB:NY341075
Time taken:5:18

After paying my respects to Wordsworth I left the village on the lake road and then followed the wall to the small ravine that leads up to the summit of Silver How. Surprisingly good views from a little hill. I retraced my steps and then traversed across the hillside above the lake on fern fronded and ancient mossed walled paths through a fairy wood to reach the steep stepped climb up to the summit of Loughrigg Fell. Great views of Grasmere and the surrounding fells from the top. I walked down to Loughrigg Terrace and then returned to Grasmere via the lakeshore path and enjoyed refreshments in the village.
