In my Bow Fell walk report; - https://www.walklakes.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=428 I made reference to a large Bench Mark chiselled into a boulder at Bow Fell summit.

In turn, that led on to posting another topic (which elicited several comments) specifically about that bench mark, and my attempts to discover its origin, and I edited my original Bow Fell report with a link to that particular topic - as quoted below: -

QUOTE
Up at Bowfell summit, I was pleased to discover that the sun was in just the right position to highlight the Ordnance Survey bench mark "arrow", chiselled into one of the large summit boulders. I've been here many times, but had never previously seen it showing such pronounced definition. EDIT: Following some email dialogue with Ordnance Survey, there is some uncertainty as to the origins of this bench mark. See: - https://www.walklakes.co.uk/talk/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=429&start=10#p788
UNQUOTE

Today, I found some further information about that particular Bow Fell bench mark, and others in the vicinity - (none of which are mentioned on the Ordnance Survey National Bench Marks Database), and which I thought would make an interesting additional post to that topic.
But on clicking that link in my above edit: -

It seems that it has since been deleted.

Would there be a particular reason why that topic has been deleted?

Regards,
Mike.

Hi Mike

I think it's a URL quoting error left over from the conversion from phpBB to our forum software back in 2019.

The post exists and can be found here:

Note the "&"s rather than "&"s.

I have corrected your original post so it now links correctly.

Hi Paul,

Many thanks for that.

I suspected it might have been something like that, but had no idea how long the topic might have been missing .

Best regards, Mike.
