snow in the lakes

hi when does the snow usually start laying in the lakes? has it already started. I do keep abreast of mwis and such but have never been to the lakes in winter!!! what sort of level does it start at? im planning to come I n January and im looking to walk the coledale round, subject to weather? possible even skiddaw?

Jan/fab is the most consistent as you might expect, but there is some on Skidda, Helvellyn already. As to whether only the high fells get it or down in the valleys, its just really variable. This isn't Scotland! All you can say is bring all your winter gear, spikes/etc, and hope you get to use them! As well as MWIS keep an eye on webcams and Weatherline.
